In today’s digital age, data science is more than numbers and algorithms—it is a powerful tool for social transformation. From tackling poverty and inequality to improving healthcare systems and environmental sustainability, data-driven insights can shape smarter, fairer, and more effective public policies.

The Data for Good Scholarship, funded by the Dieter Schwarz Foundation, is designed for students who believe in the power of data to improve lives and strengthen evidence-based policymaking worldwide.

Why Data for Good Matters

Data science enables policymakers to:

  • Identify root causes of social and economic challenges
  • Improve healthcare delivery and patient outcomes
  • Predict and mitigate the impact of natural disasters
  • Allocate public resources more effectively
  • Design policies grounded in real-world evidence

By leveraging high-quality data, governments and institutions can move from reactive decision-making to proactive, informed policy solutions.
